Rickards number one in Uruguayan Metropolitan for round 29

American Forward Randy Rickards (201-F-2000) had a great game in the last round for Verdirrojo Montevideo, receiving a Hoops Agents Metropolitan Player of the Week award for round 29.
The 24-year old player had a double-double of 35 points and 17 rebounds, while his team beat Capitol (#10, 13-14) 111-102. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Verdirrojo is placed at 11th position in Uruguayan Metropolitan. Verdirrojo is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 11-15 record. In the team's last game Rickards had a remarkable 68.4% from 2-point range. He turned to be Verdirrojo's top player in his first season with the team. Former Wilmington University star has very solid stats this year. Rickards is in league's top in points (2nd best: 23.0ppg) and averages impressive 52.8% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Agustin Britos (191-F/G-1997) of Olivol Mundial Montevideo. Britos had a very good evening with a double-double of 27 points and 16 rebounds. Bad luck as O.Mundial lost that game 95-107 to the higher-ranked Larranaga (#5, 16-12). O.Mundial are still at the very bottom. 21 lost games are too many comparing to just six victories O.Mundial managed to get this year. Britos is a newcomer at O.Mundial and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was Argentinian forward Lucio Castellani (196-F-1994) of Stockholmo Montevideo (#6). Castellani got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for eight rebounds and five assists. He was a key player of Stockolmo, leading his team to a 87-79 win against the higher-ranked Lagomar (#3, 17-11). Stockolmo needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 13 victories and 13 lost games. Castellani has a great season in Uruguay. After 25 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.1ppg (6th best). He also has a FGP of 61.3% and 3PT: 42.2%.
