Franklin Hassell gets MVP of the Week award for Uruguayan LUB (Second Stage)

Experienced American Franklin Hassell (205-C-1988) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Atletico Aguada Montevideo and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3 (Second Stage).
The 36-year old center had a double-double of 22 points and 16 rebounds, while his team crushed Nacional (#1, 21-3) with 18-point margin 99-81. Aguada maintains the 2nd position in their group in the Uruguayan LUB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Aguada will need more victories to improve their 19-5 record. Hassell turned to be Aguada's top player in his first season with the team. Old Dominion University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Hassell is in league's top in points (9th best: 16.6ppg) and averages solid 63.4% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Argentinian power forward Erik Thomas (195-PF-1995) of Urunday Universitario Montevideo. Thomas impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Urunday lost that game 90-97 to Welcome (6-19). The Second Stage is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Thomas is a newcomer at Urunday and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Brandon Beavers (188-G) of Atletico Welcome Montevideo (#5). Beavers showcased his all-around game by recording 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Welcome, leading his team to a 97-90 win against Urunday (#4, 8-16). Beavers has individually a great season in Uruguay. After 18 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.1ppg (7th best).

10. Agustin Da Costa (191-F-1998) of Hebraica - 19 points and 9 rebounds
