Liga de Ascenso Round 2 (Regular Season): Larranaga defeat L.Borges

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Liga de Ascenso. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of L.Borges in Montevideo on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Larranaga 79-73. Larranaga dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to L.Borges' 26. Larranaga forced 22 L.Borges turnovers. Point guard Gabriel Brun (175-2003) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Guard Mateo Cancela (180-2001) contributed with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Sergio Conceicao replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks for L.Borges.
Another interesting game for Stockolmo which played on the court of Montevideo. Stockolmo crushed hosts 96-69. Forward Joaquin Rodriguez (199-2003) scored 23 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Emiliano Bonet chipped in 23 points during the contest. Mali forward N'Tio Diarra (202-2002) responded with 9 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
A very close game took place in Montevideo (derby !!!) between Yale and Verdirrojo. Yale got a very close home victory over Verdirrojo. Yale managed to escape with a 2-point win 77-75 in the fight for the fourth place. Federico Miller notched 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort. Even 22 points and 4 assists by Xavier Couste did not help to save the game for Verdirrojo.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 2: Atenas beat Marne on the road 85-73. Winless Tabare lost to Colon on its own court 76-86. Lagomar managed to outperform Capitol in Montevideo 82-75.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 25 points and 10 rebounds by Ezequiel Bell of Capitol.

No shocking result in a game when Atenas beat Marne in Montevideo 85-73 on Wednesday. Ukrainian Andriy Grytsak (201-2000) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and American DeAngelo Stewart (197-1995, college: PFW) supported him with 17 points. Atenas' coach Mauricio Rodriguez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 26 points by American guard Jacob Ledoux (190-1997, college: UTPB, agency: 6th Man Basketball Agency) did not help to save the game for Marne. Forward Miguel Barriola (193-1990) added 13 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Four Marne players scored in double figures.

Four Stockolmo players scored in double figures. Mali forward N'Tio Diarra (202-2002) responded with 9 points and 8 rebounds and Maximiliano Antunez (193-2005) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

But Tabare was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Colon 86-76 on Friday night. Colon looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Forward Santiago Tucuna (197-2002) notched 24 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Pablo Gomez (200-2003) supported him with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Colon players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 30 points and 11 rebounds by American Tirrell Brown (198-1993, college: OBU) did not help to save the game for Tabare. Guard Facundo Morales (190-2004) added 11 points for the hosts. Tabare's coach Nico Scarabino rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help.

Very predictable result when Lagomar won against Capitol in Montevideo 82-75 on Saturday. American point guard Jamal Hartwell II (180-1999, college: UC Riverside) notched 30 points (perfect from downtown making all five shots) to lead the effort and center Daniel Moreira (206-2003) supported him with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Four Lagomar players scored in double figures. Lagomar's coach Esteban Yaquinta used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds by Panamanian power forward Ezequiel Bell (202-1999) did not help to save the game for Capitol. Naturalized Italian point guard Mateo Giano (186-2000) added 20 points for the hosts.
