Fourth defeat of Larranaga against Olimpia 91-89 was the most important game of the last round. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Anthony Hilliard (195-1986, college: ECSU) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. point guard Tiago Leites (197-2002) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Olimpia's coach Federico Camina used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Naturalized Italian Nicolas Borsellino (202-1986) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for Larranaga. Larranaga will play next round against Lagomar trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena of Lagomar. Olimpia will try to continue on its current victory against Colon on the road.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Atenas and Marne. Marne was defeated at home 68-77 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Forward Ignacio Xavier (195-1999) stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners and Juan Stoll chipped in 16 points. At the losing side American guard Jacob Ledoux (190-1997, college: UTPB, agency: 6th Man Basketball Agency) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Atenas' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo L.Borges.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Montevideo: L.Borges and Lagomar. L.Borges won against visiting Lagomar 86-82. Sergio Conceicao nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points and 18 rebounds for the winning side. Victor Andrade came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for Lagomar in the defeat. Lagomar's coach Esteban Yaquinta rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. L.Borges' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Atenas.

Other games in round 1 were not that significant. Verdirrojo beat Colon on the road 69-62. Stockolmo lost to Montevideo on its own court 70-88. Bottom-ranked Capitol unfortunately lost to Tabare in a road game 76-82.
The most impressive performance of 1st round was 29 points and 10 rebounds by Anthony Moe of Capitol.



Colon - Verdirrojo 62-69

No shocking result in a game when Verdirrojo beat on the road Colon 69-62 on Monday. Forward Federico Haller (200-1988) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Giovanni Corbisiero (180-2002) accounted for 20 points. Point guard Juan Martin Ortiz (185-2002) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Santiago Tucuna (197-2002) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Colon in the defeat. Verdirrojo's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Marne.

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when Stockolmo lost at home to Montevideo 88-70 on Tuesday. Forward Octavio Medina (195-1996) nailed 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and forward Lautaro Perez (180-2003) accounted for 19 points and 7 rebounds. Argentinian forward Lucio Castellani (196-1994) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and forward Nicolas Lema (-2005) added 13 points respectively for Stockolmo in the defeat. Stockolmo's coach Andres Borroni tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Montevideo will meet at home Tabare in the next round. Stockolmo will have a break next round.
