The most exciting game of round 2 in the Liga de Ascenso took place in Montevideo. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of Lagomar to Larranaga 93-91 on Saturday evening. Larranaga looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Guard Mateo Cancela (180-2001) scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Argentinian Carlos Buemo (194-1996) chipped in 22 points and 5 assists during the contest. Forward Santiago Moglia (196-1989) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists.
Important game to mention about took place in Colon. Olimpia saved a 2-point derby victory on the road edging Colon 66-64 on Thursday evening. Forward Christian Pereira (194-1993) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and Agustin Mendez supported him with 16 points. Even a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds by center Martin Tessadri (200-2001) did not help to save the game for Colon. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: Verdirrojo and Marne. Verdirrojo smashed visiting Marne by 29 points 86-57. The best player for the winners was Federico Haller who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Lucas Silva produced 14 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
There were no shocking results in the other games in round 2: L.Borges lost to Atenas on the opponent's court 59-68. Bottom-ranked Capitol was outscored by Yale in a home game 67-97. Tabare recorded a loss to Montevideo on the road 91-86.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 29 points and 17 rebounds by Kwame Alexander of Tabare.
