Dwayne Russell gets MVP of the Week award for Uruguayan Liga de Ascenso (Second Stage) - by Hoops Agents

American Dwayne Russell (203-F-1998) had a very impressive game in the last round for Club Atletico Olimpia Montevideo and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Liga de Ascenso Player of the Week award for round 5 (Second Stage).
The 27-year old forward had a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds, while his team outclassed Atenas (11-6) with 26-point margin 105-79. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Olimpia maintains the 3rd position in Uruguayan Liga de Ascenso. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Olimpia will need more victories to improve their 11-6 record. Russell turned to be Olimpia's top player in his first season with the team. Saint Thomas University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Russell is in league's top in points (6th best: 17.9ppg), rebounds (8th best: 8.9rpg) and averages solid 60.3% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American power forward Kwame Alexander (200-F/C-1990, agency: BIG) of Atletico Tabare. Alexander impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 17 rebounds. Of course Tabare cruised to a 67-60 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Yale (#12, 4-12). Despite this victory Tabare slide down in the standings to 3rd position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-9 record. Alexander is a newcomer at Tabare and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Cape Verdean Victor Andrade (202-PF-2000) of Lagomar Canelones Montevideo (#6). Andrade got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for nine rebounds . He was a key player of Lagomar, leading his team to a 106-90 easy win against the higher-ranked Verdirrojo (#1, 13-4). Lagomar needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 8 lost games. Andrade has a great season in Uruguay. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.0ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 10.0rpg (5th best).
