  Marinos de Oriente confirmed as 2003 LPB Champions
An official press release provided by the Liga Profesional de Baloncesto (LPB) main board, confirmed Marinos de Oriente as champions of the 2003 basketball season.
The document also stated that Shelly Clark (202-C/F-72, college: Illinois) was elected Most Valuable Player of the 2003 Finals, although it does not specify the penalty that Gaiteros del Zulia will face on the cause of leaving the gymnasium during Game 6 and refusing to play a seventh game.
According to the press release, the LPB officials took this decision based on the priority of setting the disciplinary procedures that will maintain the quality levels of the LPB as a sports organization in the country. It was confirmed that the league will, from now on, take as much preventions as they can to avoid this scenario in the future.
