Marinos claimed the LBP title. They beat Guaros in the sixth game of the championship series to conquer the trophy. Guaros were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The former international swingman Jose Vargas (195-82) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 6 rebounds. The former international point guard Gregory Vargas (180-86, agency: Paris Global Sports) contributed with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. International center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and American guard Tu Holloway (182-89, college: Xavier) added 28 points in the effort for Guaros. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The Criollos celebrated victory in the LPB All-Star Game. Windi Graterol (204-C-86) converted a decisive basket late in regulation to seal the win for the Criollos. He was named the MVP after the game. Graterol posted 17 points and 4 rebounds for the winners. The Importados are leading overall count of wins 22-15 over the Criollos. Luis Bethelmy (200-F/C-86) posted 18 points, while Jesus Centeno (190-G-85) added 17 points for the winners. Marcus Elliott (191-G-84, college: Louisiana Tech) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the Importados. Pete Mickeal (199-F-78, agency: Tycoon Sports Inc., college: Cincinnati) contributed 19 points in the loss. Darwin Matos (197-G/F-85) earned victory in the Slam Dunk Contest.
LPB's 2015 All-Star Game set to amaze Venezuelan fans in Valencia - Apr 17, 2015
Barquisimeto, Venezuela.- A new edition of Venezuela's Liga Profesional de Baloncesto's All-Star Game (LPB All-Star Game) will take place on April 18th at the Forum of Valencia, with the traditional game between Criollos (Venezuelans) and Importados (Foreigners) and the Slam Dunks, Three-Point Shots and One-on One official contests.
The game will be played to honor Venezuelan SF Victor David Diaz (195-F-68, college: Houston), who is playing his final season as an active player for Gaiteros del Zulia and is a former star of Venezuela's Senior National Team with over 20 years of overseas experience, including stints in leagues of Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, Brazil and Puerto Rico.
Starting players for both teams were selected through a national online voting process open to fans in the league's official website. Bench players and coaches were selected by the league's technical board.
Here's a detailed list with the team rosters and coaching staffs, as well as the participants of all the contests. Kristoffer Lang (211-F/C-79, college: N.Carolina), of Cocodrilos de Caracas and who had been selected by the fans, will not be able to play due to injury and had to be replaced.
