   Nationals defeated Foreigns in LPB's All-Star Game
The LPB 2004's edition of the All-Star Game resulted in a victory for the National Stars over the Imported Stars 144-134 at "Jose Beracasa" Gymnasium of Naciones Unidas Park, in the city of Caracas. The festivities included the usual individual competitions of dunks and special skills, also disputed this Saturday.
The game was played in honor of Venezuela's Soccer National Squad, which has evolved and is currently at third place of the standings, in the qualys for the Germany 2006 World Cup, which would be the first time that the country qualifies.
The Game
The National Stars opened the match with Victor David Diaz (195-F-68, agency: Interperformances, college: Houston) (Panteras), Ernesto Mijares (191-G-76, college: Mc Clennan CC) (Marinos), Tomas Aguilera (198-F-77) (Marinos), Henry Paez (185-G-70) (Cocodrilos) and Luis Julio (197-F-82) (Gaiteros) while the Imported Squad started with Aki Thomas (204-F/C-, college: Howard) (Toros), Ruben Nembhard (191-G-72, agency: Larry Fox Services, college: Weber St.) (Gaiteros), Jermaine Walker (198-F-77, agency: Larry Fox Services, college: Miami, FL) (Marinos), Ronnie Fields (191-G-77, college: High School USA) (Trotamundos) and Sam Clancy (201-F-80, college: USC) (Cocodrilos).
The key to the locals's victory was the game they displayed during the first quarter, in which they finished ahead 46-27. Supported in the game of Victor David Diaz (195-F-68, agency: Interperformances, college: Houston), they went on to protect the lead during the second quarter (79-66) and the third (111-107), although during this period there was an important comeback by the Imported Stars.
For the Nationals, Victor David Diaz (195-F-68, agency: Interperformances, college: Houston) scored 40 points, Henry Paez (185-G-70) added 26 points and Luis Julio (197-F-82) finished up with 21 points.
For the Imported Stars, Jermaine Walker (198-F-77, agency: Larry Fox Services, college: Miami, FL) scored 22 points and Jack Hartman (207-F-75, college: Biola (CA)) finished up with 20 points.
Diaz MVP
Because of his great performance with 40 points, Victor David Diaz (195-F-68, agency: Interperformances, college: Houston) of Panteras de Miranda, was named Most Valuable Player of the All-Star Game. The veteran is the current leader of the league's scorers. He received the trophy from LPB's president, German Blanco Arana, and he also received the team's trophy to satisfy his role of captain.
The contests
Dan Cross (191-G-73, college: Florida), of Panteras de Miranda, was the winner of the Skill's competition, which combines free-throws, dribbling and three-point shots. He had a duel with Henry Paez (185-G-70), of Cocodrilos de Caracas.
In the dunks competition, the spectacle was Gregory Vallenilla (198-F-80), of Panteras de Miranda, who outdueled Jermaine Walker (198-F-77, agency: Larry Fox Services, college: Miami, FL) of Marinos de Oriente and Rosmel Blanco (206-C-78, college: Sam Houston State), of Trotamundos de Carabobo.
