Barquisimeto, Venezuela.- Venezuelan players Anthony Perez (206-F-93), of Ole Mississippi Rebels and Denny Burguillos (201-F-89), of Georgia State Panthers, played their first official preseason games heading towards the 2012-2013 season in the Division I of the NCAA, college basketball league of the United States in which they'll be participating in their first season.

Perez, a former player of Lee College and the Montverde Acadamy, is an SF considered to be a top candidate to play in the NBA in the future. He was able to contribute with 7 points, 5 rebounds, an assist and a block in 19 minutes on court for the Rebels in a victory over Montevallo, 77-62. His official season debut will come against Mississippi Valley State on November 9th at Tab Smith Colisseum.

Meawhile, Burguillos, a PF with great skills for rebounding duties, played 19 minutes in a blowout victory of the Panthers against Albany State, 80-60, finishing with 2 points and 3 rebounds coming off the bench. His first season game will be against Duke, one of the top universities in the nation, on November 9th.

Aside of Perez and Burguillos, Venezuelans in the NCAA's Division I include senior Gregory Echenique (206-C-90), of the Creighton Blue Jays and newcomers Michael Carrera (196-F-93), of South Carolina and Juan Coronado (203-F-90), of Liberty.

LEON RODGERS Defending champion Guaros de Lara (LPB) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 38-year old Venezuelan ex-international forward Leon Rodgers (201-80, college: N.Illinois). GREGORY VARGAS Defending champion Guaros de Lara (LPB) inked 32-year old Venezuelan international point guard Gregory Vargas (180-86, agency: Pro Sports). He played most recently at Fuenlabrada in Spanish Liga Endesa. In 34 games he averaged 4.5ppg, 2.8rpg and 2.4apg last season. Bucaneros de La Guaira (LPB) tabbed 30-year old American center Steven Toyloy (203-113kg-87, college: Cincinnati). He played most recently at Santos in Mexican LNBP. In two games he averaged 8.0ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.5apg last season. Toyloy also played for Sitra Club (Premier League) in Bahrain that season where in 9 games he had very impressive stats: 18.4ppg, 21.8rpg, 3.6apg, 1.2spg and 1.7bpg.
