We bring you last week's top performances from Venezuelans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international forward Anthony Perez (206-93, college: Mississippi, currently plays in Mexico). He was the major contributor in Soles' victory against the closely-ranked Garzas (19-14) 88-82 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) in Saturday night's game. Perez recorded 25 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists in 43 minutes on the court; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Soles de Mexicali (21-12) is placed second in the LNBP. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Perez averages: 8.6ppg, 3.3rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 60.5%(75-124), 3FGP: 27.9% and FT: 77.3% in 30 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Venezuelan senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Miguel Ruiz (197-90, agency: Pro Sports, currently plays in Argentina). Ruiz led Libertad Sunchales to a victory against the ninth-ranked Boca Juniors (8-22) 84-73 in the Argentinian LigaA last Saturday. He scored 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Libertad Sunchales (13-15) is placed seventh in Norte group. It's Ruiz's first season with the team. Ruiz's overall stats this year are: 6.4ppg, 7.7rpg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 52.3% and FT: 62.4%. He is in the roster of the Venezuelan senior national team.

   #3. The Venezuelan player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced international swingman Jose Vargas (195-82, also represented by Pro Sports, currently plays in Argentina). Vargas contributed to a La Union's victory against the sixth-ranked Argentino (14-16) 72-65 in the Argentinian LigaA on Sunday night. He scored 10 points, made 5 passes and 3 steals in 25 minutes. La Union Formosa (5-16) is placed sixth in Norte group. This year Vargas' overall stats are: 8.8ppg, 4.6rpg, 1.8apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 56.6%(73-129), 3FGP: 34.3% and FT: 65.5% in 29 games. Ex-Trotamundos de Carabobo player is also a member of the Venezuelan senior national team.

   #4. Point guard Gregory Vargas (180-86, another player represented by Pro Sports, currently plays in Israel). He could not help one of league's weakest teams Maccabi Haifa (7-10) to beat Ironi Nahariya (8-10). Vargas recorded 7 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Maccabi Haifa was defeated 83-73 on the road by the higher-ranked Ironi Nahariya (#8). Vargas has relatively good stats this season: 12.6ppg, 4.6rpg, 7.6apg and 1.6spg. He is also Venezuelan national team player.

   #5. Former international small forward Michael Carrera (196-93, college: S.Carolina, currently plays in VTB United League) was not able to help Avtodor in their game against BC Nizhny Novgorod (4-10) in the VTB United League. Carrera scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 20 minutes. Avtodor was crushed 110-68 in Nizhny Novgorod by the lower-ranked (#10) BC Nizhny Novgorod. This year Carrera's total stats are: 7.4ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.2apg in 14 games. He is a naturalized American. Carrera used to play for the Venezuelan national team two years ago. Strangely he has never played in Venezuela.

Swingman Francisco Centeno (201-85, currently plays in Chile) helped AB Ancud win their game against the fourth-ranked Puerto Montt (14-16) 78-71 in the Chilean Liga Nacional on Saturday night. Centeno recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting the same number of rebounds. He also added 2 blocks and 3 steals. Asociacion Basquetbol Ancud (0-2) is placed first in Conferencia Sur. Centeno has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 19.3ppg, 7.0rpg, 2.0apg and 1.2spg. Centeno is a former international player as he played for the Venezuelan senior team five years ago.

   #7. Former international guard Jhornan Zamora (196-89, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Palencia Baloncesto (15-7) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Palencia Baloncesto lost 89-93 on the opponent's court to the much lower-ranked (#11) Oviedo_CB. Zamora was the second best scorer with 16 points. He also added 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 34 minutes. They ended the series of four consecutive victories. This year Zamora has relatively solid stats: 11.3ppg, 2.7rpg and 1.7apg in 22 games. He used to play for the Venezuelan national team two years ago.

   #8. Forward Juan Coronado (203-90, agency: Basket Management Solutions, college: Liberty, currently plays in Argentina) helped Huracan win their game against the eighth-ranked La Union (13-16) 69-66 in the Argentinian TNA (second division) last Saturday. Coronado scored 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds; not bad, considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. Huracan Trelew (12-11) is placed fourth in South group. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended. Coronado has reliable stats this season: 11.8ppg and 8.0rpg. He plays currently for the Venezuelan national team.

Former international forward Luis Valera (202-88, agency: Duran International, college: UTRGV, currently plays in Spain) helped Azuqueca win their game against the 12th-ranked Lanzarote (6-10) 97-92 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) in Saturday night's game. Valera scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Isover Basket Azuqueca (12-6) is placed fifth in Group B. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Valera's stats this season are: 13.4ppg and 7.5rpg. He used to play for the Venezuelan national team two years ago.

   #10. Guard Jose Jimenez (193, currently plays in NAIA) couldn't help the Faulkner University (8-6) in their game against the William Carey University (8-3) in the NAIA. He scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. The Faulkner University was defeated 81-76 in Hattiesburg by the William Carey University. It was Faulkner University's fifth consecutive loss in a row. Jimenez averaged so far 11.8ppg, 6.0rpg, 2.4apg and 1.3spg. He is a former international player as two years ago he still played for the Venezuelan senior national team.

   #1. Juan Fontena (196-F-87, currently plays in Chile) contributed to an Osorno Basquetbol's victory against the fifth-ranked CD Castro (14-18) 82-68 in the Chilean Liga Nacional on Saturday night. Fontena scored 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 22 minutes. Osorno Basquetbol (22-10) is placed first in Conferencia Sur. Fontena averaged so far 11.0ppg, 6.9rpg and 1.4apg in 37 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Venezuelan and Chilean.

   #2. Rafael Melgarejo (184-G-91, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Aracena - AEC Collblanc La Torrassa in a victory against the 14th-ranked Mataro (3-11) 71-63 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) last Saturday. Melgarejo scored only 2 points in 4 minutes on the court. Aracena - AEC Collblanc La Torrassa (9-4) is placed fourth in Group C-A. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This year Melgarejo averages just 4.7ppg in three games.

   #3. Manuel Hernandez (206-C, currently plays in NAIA) led Huston-Tillotson University to a victory against the Wiley College (11-3) 77-70 in the NAIA in Saturday night's game. Hernandez had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 11 rebounds in 37 minutes. The Huston-Tillotson University has 6-8 record this season. Hernandez has averaged so far 3.6ppg and 8.9rpg in 16 games.

   #4. Kilder Gonzalez (188-G, currently plays in NAIA). He could not help the St.Gregory's University (3-8) to beat the Southwestern Christian University (6-5). Gonzalez cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 3 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. The St.Gregory's University was defeated 69-64 on the road by the Southwestern Christian University. It was St.Gregory's University's third consecutive loss in a row. Gonzalez has averaged so far 6.8ppg and 3.7rpg.

   #5. Victor Diaz Jr. (190-G, currently plays in NAIA) was not able to help the Southwestern Christian University in their game against the Oklahoma City University in the NAIA. He cannot count Thursday's game as one of the best ones. Diaz Jr. scored only 2 points in 8 minutes on the court. The Southwestern Christian University was edged 78-77 in Oklahoma City by the University. Diaz Jr. has averaged so far 2.4ppg and 2.0rpg in 17 games.

   #6. Stefano Magnoni (201-C, currently plays in NAIA) was not able to secure a victory for the Webber International University in their game against the Ave Maria University in the TSC. He cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. Magnoni recorded only 2 points. His team was defeated 105-94 in the TSC. Magnoni has averaged so far 2.2ppg and 2.1rpg.

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LPB. Here is the last round review presented by ESL. Top ranked Gigantes (10-6) recorded its sixth loss in Caracas on Wednesday night. Visitors were rolled over by second ranked Panteras (8-4) 87-60. Panteras looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. GREGORY ECHENIQUE International Center Gregory Echenique (206-C-90, agency: Pensack Sports) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Guaros, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 17.
