Maurice
Sutton
American Center Maurice Sutton (211-C-89) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Cocodrilos, receiving a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (27 points, eight rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Bucaneros (#5, 0-2) 77-70. Thanks to this victory Cocodrilos moved-up to the 1st position in their group in Venezuelan LPB. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Cocodrilos won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Sutton turned to be Cocodrilos' top player in his first season with the team. Former Villanova University star has very solid stats this year. Sutton is league's best scorer averaging so far 20.5ppg and leads league in rebounds with 10.5rpg. Sutton is in league's top in and averages impressive 2.0bpg and 58.1% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was another Cocodrilos' star - 26-year old international swingman Cesar Garcia (193-G/F-90, agency: Pro Sports). Garcia had a very good evening with 22 points and 3 rebounds. It was enough for Cocodrilos to edge Bucaneros (0-2) 74-72. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Garcia is one of the most experienced players at Cocodrilos and similarly like Maurice Sutton has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.0ppg (#3). He also recorded 4.5 assists per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was former international guard Carlos Cedeno (193-PG-85) of Bucaneros (#5). Cedeno scored 17 points and passed five assists. Despite Cedeno's great performance Bucaneros lost 72-74 to Cocodrilos (#1, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Bucaneros can only dream about fighting for top spots in Eastern Conference. Cedeno has individually a great season in Venezuela. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 11.0ppg (5th best) and assists with 5.0apg (best passer).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Kristoffer Lang (211-C-79) of Bucaneros - 13 points and 7 rebounds
5. Tulio Cobos (197-F-86) of Bucaneros - 16 points and 6 rebounds
6. Jose Rodriguez (197-PF-94) of Cocodrilos - 13 points and 12 rebounds
7. Yochuar Palacios (183-PG-88) of Cocodrilos - 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Jordan Hamilton (201-G/F-90) of Bucaneros - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Windi Graterol (204-C-86) of Bucaneros - 12 points and 9 rebounds
10. Angel Blanco (179-PG-97) of Cocodrilos - 7 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
