Michael
Carrera
24-year old Venezuelan international small forward Michael Carrera (196-97kg-93, college: S.Carolina) left Avtodor Saratov (VTB). In 17 games he averaged 7.1ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.1apg this season. He also played 16 games in Basketball Champions League where he had 4.3ppg and 3.8rpg.
The previous (12-13) season Carrera played at another team Fighting Gamecocks in U.S. semi-pro league NCAA1. In 27 games he recorded 9.9ppg and 7.2rpg.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
Carrera received All-SEC 1st Team award in 2016 at his college time.
Carrera was also a member of Venezuelan international program for some years. He played for Venezuelan Senior National Team between 2012 and 2015 and previously for U16 National Team back in 2009.
Carrera also represented Venezuela at the South American U15 Championships in Guanare (Venezuela) nine years ago.
He graduated from University of South Carolina in 2016 and it is his first season in pro basketball.
Let's have closer look into Carrera's outlook: A solid forward player, he seems undersized to play the 3 position, but makes the job done thaks to hustle, timing and a 7-1 wingspan. His effeciveness at grabbing rebounds and shot blocking can be compared to the one of a 6-8 or 6-9 player. Plus, he know how to score both inside and out.
