Iberostar Tenerife captured the Intercontinental Cup trophy. The Basketball League champions overcame FIBA Americas League winners Guaros de Lara for the title. Mike Tobey (213-C-94, college: Virginia) recorded 21 points and 9 boards to pace the Spanish team.
Guaros de Lara snatched a 17:14 lead after ten minutes of action in La Laguna. The Venezuelan team maintained the lead throughout the second term. Guaros established a 39:36 halftime advantage. But Iberostar Tenerife took over in the second half. The Spanish side erased the deficit in the third term and eked out a 56:55 lead at the final break. Iberostar Tenerife added 20 points in the fourth period and ran away with the victory. Davin White (185-PG-81, college: CS Northridge) produced 14 points, while Nicolas Richotti (183-PG-86) added 11 points for the champions. Mario Little (198-F/G-87, college: Kansas) replied with 23 points for Guaros. Gregory Echenique (206-C-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) had 11 points in the defeat.
