M.Haifa welcomes back Smith

Newly promoted Maccabi Hunter Haifa (Winner League) landed experienced 36-year old American (has also Venezuelan passport) small forward Donta Smith (201-100kg-83, college: SE Illinois JC). It is actually his comeback to Maccabi Haifa as he has played here before. Smith played most recently at Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans in French Jeep ELITE ProA.
In 2004 Smith was drafted by Atlanta Hawks (NBA) in second round (34th overall). He attended Southeastern Illinois College (JUCO) and it will be his 17th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
He is a very experienced player. Smith has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to ten different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America). Smith has played previously professionally in Australia, Bulgaria, China, Mexico (Fuerza Regia), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros, Carolina, Santeros, Indios and Piratas), Israel (Hapoel Jerusalem), Italy (Brindisi), Venezuela (Marinos, Espartanos and Bucaneros) and The Basketball Tournament (Team Rondo).
Smith helped them to make it to the French Leaders Cup Semis final in 2020.
He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at M.Haifa.
