Melvin Zambrano
International Power forward Eliezer Montano (206-F/C-91) put on an amazing game in the last round for Gladiadores, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 29-year old player was the main contributor (31 points, eight rebounds and five assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Condores (#12, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 95-91. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Thanks to this victory Gladiadores moved-up to the 9th position in Venezuelan SLB. Gladiadores is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-2 record. In the team's last game Montano had a remarkable 69.2% from 2-point range. He turned to be Gladiadores' top player in his first season with the team. Eliezer Montano has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 18.0ppg) and averages impressive 2.7bpg and 56.3% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old Melvin Zambrano (193-G/F-95) of Condores. Zambrano had a very good evening with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Condores was edged by Gladiadores (1-2) 95-91. The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Zambrano is a newcomer at Condores, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.0ppg (#1). He also registered 6.5 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was guard Garly Sojo (196-PG-99) of Broncos (#13). Sojo scored 23 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). Despite Sojo's great performance Broncos lost 56-65 to Spartans (#4, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Broncos can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 3 games. Sojo has individually a great season in Venezuela. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.7ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 10.3rpg (2nd best).
Other top performing players last week:
4. Gregory Curvelo (195-SF-90) of Llaneros - 17 points and 6 rebounds
5. Anthony Perez (206-F-93) of Guaiqueries - 20 points and 4 rebounds

10. Gustavo Castillo (194-SF-98) of Gladiadores - 12 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
