Montero number one in Venezuela SPB for round 24 (by Hoops Agents)

Dominican Rep. Luis Montero (203-SF-1993) had a great game in the last round for top-ranked Cocodrilos de Caracas, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 24.
The 30-year old player had a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds, while his team beat Panteras (#7, 5-10) 83-70. It allowed Cocodrilos to consolidate first place in the Venezuelan SPB. Cocodrilos have a solid 13-3 record. In the team's last game Montero had a remarkable 100.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Cocodrilos, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Luis Montero averages this season 13.6ppg and 6.7rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Lamonte Bearden (191-G-1995) of Frontinos Del Tachira. Bearden had a very good evening with 25 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course he led Frontinos to another comfortable win 90-74 over the higher-ranked Pioneros (#4, 9-7) being unquestionably team leader. Frontinos' 7th position in Group I has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-10 record. Bearden is one of the most experienced players at Frontinos and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.8ppg (#8). He also recorded 6.0 assists per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Albert Arias (194-F-1989) of Diablos de Miranda (#9). Arias scored 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Despite Arias' great performance the Diablos lost 77-89 to the higher-ranked Gaiteros (#6, 7-9). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Diablos can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group II. Arias has a very solid season. In 15 games in Venezuela he scored 3.8ppg. He also has 5.9rpg and a FGP of 52.0%.
