International Forward Michael Carrera (196-F-1993, agency: BIG) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Gladiadores de Anzoategui, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 42.
The 31-year old player had a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed Trotamundos (#2, 15-9) with 17-point margin 95-78. It allowed Gladiadores to consolidate first place in the Venezuelan SPB. Gladiadores has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 22-2. In the team's last game Carrera had a remarkable 54.5% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Gladiadores, through which he has constantly improved. Michael Carrera averages this season 16.3ppg and 7.4rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Marquez Letcher-Ellis (203-F-1997) of Brillantes de Zulia. Letcher-Ellis had a very good evening with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course Brillantes cruised to a 75-63 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Toros (#9, 3-19). Brillantes' 6th position in Group I has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 12-11 record is not bad and everything may still change. Letcher-Ellis is one of the most experienced players at Brillantes and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Gladiadores' star - Costa Rican forward Charles Garcia (204-PF-1988). Garcia showcased his all-around game by recording 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. He was another key player of Gladiadores de Anzoategui, helping his team with a 95-78 easy win against #2 ranked Trotamundos in a game of the week. Many experts and fans count Gladiadores as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 22 victories and only two lost games. They are currently at the very top of the standings in Group I. Garcia has a very solid season. In 23 games in Venezuela he scored 10.4ppg. He also has 6.0rpg and a FGP of 55.8%.
