Lopez number one in Venezuela SPB for round 9

International Forward Lenin Lopez (198-F-1991) had a great game in the last round for Brillantes de Zulia, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 33-year old player was the main contributor (27 points, nine rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Trotamundos (#7, 4-4) 85-83. Thanks to this victory Brillantes moved-up to the 11th position in Venezuelan SPB. Brillantes is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 3-5 record. In the team's last game Lopez had a remarkable 88.9% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Brillantes, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Lenin Lopez averages this season 9.6ppg and 5.8rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was young international forward Michael Carrera (196-F-1993, agency: BIG) of Gladiadores de Anzoategui. Carrera had a very good evening with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Gladiadores lost that game 88-95 to slightly lower-ranked Guaiqueries (#8, 3-4). Gladiadores managed to keep the same 6th spot in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 4-4 record is not bad and everything may still change. Carrera is one of the most experienced players at Gladiadores and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.7ppg (#1). He also registered 7.0 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard A.J. Banks (188-G-1997) of Guaiqueries de Margarita (#8). Banks scored 21 points and passed 6 assists. He was a key player of Guaiqueries, leading his team to a 95-88 win against slightly higher-ranked Gladiadores (#6, 4-4). The chances of Guaiqueries ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 4 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Banks could help Guaiqueries to bring them higher in the standings. Banks has a very solid season. In 2 games in Venezuela he scored 12.5ppg. Banks attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.
