International Guard Yohanner Sifontes (192-G-1995) had a very impressive game in the last round for Spartans de Distrito Capital Caracas, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 15.
The 29-year old player was the main contributor (16 points, nine rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Panteras (#12, 4-7) 86-82. Spartans is placed at 3rd position in Venezuelan SPB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Spartans will need more victories to improve their 8-4 record. Sifontes just recently signed at Spartans, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Yohanner Sifontes has solid league stats. He is in league's top in assists (6th best: 4.3apg).

The second best player in last round's games was young Dominican Rep. Juan Suero (196-G-1993) of Piratas de la Guaira. Suero had a very good evening with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. It was enough for Piratas to edge the lower-ranked Panteras (#12, 4-7) 82-76. Piratas' 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 5-5 record is not bad and everything may still change. Suero is one of the most experienced players at Piratas and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.4ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 5.4rpg and 4.0apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was American Rakim Brown (198-SF-1991) of Toros de Aragua (#13). Brown scored 20 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Despite Brown's great performance the Toros lost 80-81 to the higher-ranked Pioneros (#4, 7-3). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Toros not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 8 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Brown could try to bring Toros' a little bit higher in the standings. Brown has individually a great season in Venezuela. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.2ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 7.3rpg (5th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Michael Bryson (193-G-1994) of Marinos - 30 points and 4 rebounds
5. Brian Guidi (200-F/C-1991) of Toros - 19 points and 8 rebounds
6. Jeff Allen (201-C/F-1987) of Pioneros - 17 points and 9 rebounds
7. Alani Moore II (178-PG-1998) of Toros - 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists
8. Wilkerman Gomez (190-G-2001) of Panteras - 22 points and 4 rebounds
9. Wesley Saunders (196-G/F-1993) of Marinos - 13 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Sydney Curry (203-F-2000) of Panteras - 16 points and 9 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
