Duarte's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

Luis Duarte

30-year old swingman Luis Duarte (190-G/F-1994) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's best team Gaiteros de Zulia and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 17.
He had a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds, while his team crushed Frontinos (#9, 5-7) with 18-point margin 77-59. It allowed Gaiteros to consolidate first place in the Venezuelan league. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. It's already very far into the season and Gaiteros keeps a perfect 12-0 record. In the team's last game Duarte had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Gaiteros, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Duarte has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 4.6apg) and averages solid 3.4spg and 70.7% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Michael Carrera (196-F-1993, agency: BIG) of Gladiadores de Anzoategui. He is international forward in his first season at Gladiadores. In the last game Carrera recorded an impressive double-double of 27 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Gladiadores lost that game 91-97 to the higher-ranked Marinos (#3, 9-5). Despite lost game Gladiadores moved up to 10th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-7 record. Carrera is one of the most experienced players at Gladiadores and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.2ppg (#3). He also registered 7.5 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to swingman Wesley Saunders (196-G/F-1993) of Marinos de Oriente (#3). Saunders scored 26 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. He was a key player of Marinos, leading his team to a 97-91 win against the lower-ranked Gladiadores (#10, 5-7). Marinos needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 5 lost games. Saunders has a great season in Venezuela. After 14 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.7ppg (6th best). He also has a FGP of 52.8% and 3PT: 50.0%.
