American Guard Michael Bryson (193-G-1994) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Marinos de Oriente, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 18.
The 30-year old player tried to help (33 points, eight rebounds and three assists) his team in a lost game to Gladiadores (#10, 5-7) 87-91. Marinos moved-up to the 3rd position in Venezuelan SPB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Marinos will need to avoid more loses keep or improve their 9-5 record. In the team's last game Bryson had a remarkable 69.2% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Marinos, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former University of California Santa Barbara star has very solid stats this year. Bryson is in league's top in points (8th best: 16.1ppg) and averages impressive 58.0% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young international power forward Francisco Centeno (203-F/C-1985) of Guaiqueries de Margarita. Centeno had a very good evening with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Guaiqueries lost that game 67-85 to the higher-ranked Spartans (#2, 9-4). This loss caused Guaiqueries to drop to 11th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-7 record. Centeno is a newcomer at Guaiqueries and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was Dominican Rep. guard Diego Colon (188-SG-2001) of Llaneros de Guarico (#14). Colon scored 28 points. Despite Colon's great performance the Llaneros lost 82-89 to the higher-ranked Trotamundos (#5, 6-6). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Llaneros can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 2-10 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Colon has a very solid season. In 5 games in Venezuela he scored 22.0ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Torren Jones (206-F/C-1994) of Trotamundos - 20 points and 7 rebounds
5. Hollis Thompson (203-SF-1991) of Trotamundos - 22 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists

10. Albert Arias (194-F-1989) of Llaneros - 10 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
