American Swingman Wesley Saunders (196-G/F-1993) put on an amazing game in the last round for Marinos de Oriente, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 32.
The 31-year old player was the main contributor (28 points, four rebounds and eight assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Panteras (#12, 7-15) 92-86. Marinos is placed at 3rd position in Venezuelan SPB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Marinos will need more victories to improve their 14-8 record. In the team's last game Saunders had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He just recently signed at Marinos, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former Harvard University star has very solid stats this year. Saunders is in league's top in points (7th best: 16.9ppg), assists (7th best: 4.0apg) and averages impressive 52.0% FGP and 47.1% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Erik McCree (202-F-1993) of Guaiqueries de Margarita. McCree had a very good evening with a double-double of 34 points and 10 rebounds. It was enough for Guaiqueries to edge slightly higher-ranked Piratas (#7, 10-9) 98-95. This victory allowed Guaiqueries to move up to 9th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 9-10 record. McCree is one of the most experienced players at Guaiqueries and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Sydney Curry (203-F-2000) of Panteras de Miranda (#12). Curry showcased his all-around game by recording 25 points, 15 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. Despite Curry's great performance the Panteras lost 86-92 to the higher-ranked Marinos (#3, 14-8). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Panteras not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 15 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Curry could try to bring Panteras' a little bit higher in the standings. Curry has individually a great season in Venezuela. After 21 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.3ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 11.4rpg (#1 in league).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Juan Suero (196-G-1993) of Piratas - 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists
5. Micheal Warren (196-F/G-1995) of Gaiteros - 22 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Willie Reed (211-C/F-1990) of Cocodrilos - 16 points and 11 rebounds
7. Anyeuri Castillo (201-F-1997) of Pioneros - 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Tim Bond (201-SG-1995) of Pioneros - 27 points and 2 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
