Pioneros - Trotamundos 88-82

Pioneros brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Trotamundos were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Dominican-American forward Anyeuri Castillo (201-1997, college: USC Aiken) nailed 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and American Tim Bond (201-1995, college: EMU) accounted for 15 points. Bond is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Pioneros players scored in double figures. Dominican guard Juan Suero (196-1993) came up with 20 points and naturalized American Donta Smith (201-1983, college: SE Illinois JC) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Trotamundos in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Marinos looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international forward Michael Carrera (196-1993, college: S.Carolina, agency: BIG) stepped up and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Dominican center Luis Santos (203-1994, college: St.Louis) chipped in 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Marinos players scored in double figures. American point guard Nate Barnes (181-1990, college: ABU) responded with 20 points and 4 assists and swingman Luis Duarte (190-1994) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Gaiteros' coach Julio Duquela rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help.
