SPB 2026 - Jovanni Diaz comes back to Spartans

SPB strengthened their roster with the addition of experienced 36-year-old 203cm forward Jovanni Diaz for the 2026 season. Diaz, who previously played for Caracas, spent last summer with Pioneros in the Venezuelan SPB league, averaging 3.1ppg and 1.5rpg in 15 games. He also played for Frontinos Del Tachira, where he averaged 10.9ppg, 6.7rpg, 1.9apg, and 1.4spg in 23 games. Diaz had a great season and was voted to the Latinbasket.com All-Venezuelan SPB Honorable Mention team.
He is a very experienced player. Diaz has played also in Chile (CD Universidad Catolica de Santiago and Puente Alto), Colombia (Piratas), Peru (Regatas), Venezuela (Cocodrilos, Gaiteros, Bucaneros, Atleticos and Guacharos), Ecuador (Juvenil) and El Salvador (Metapan).
Among many awards, he played in the final of the Venezuelan SLB in 2022. He was voted to the Latinbasket.com Chilean Liga Nacional All-Domestic Players Team back in 2017. Diaz is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of the last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Spartans.
