Colon number one in Venezuela SPB for round 6

Dominican Rep. Shooting guard Diego Colon (188-SG-2001) had an amazing evening in the last round for Cocodrilos de Caracas, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 24-year old player was the main contributor (42 points, six rebounds and three assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Panteras (#10, 1-3) with 16-point margin 83-67. Cocodrilos maintains the 5th position in Venezuelan SPB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Cocodrilos will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. In the team's last game Colon had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range and got eight three-pointers out of 14 attempts. He just recently signed at Cocodrilos, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Diego Colon has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 25.0ppg. Colon is in league's top in and averages impressive 46.9% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Jeff Allen (201-C/F-1987) of Pioneros Del Avila. Allen had a very good evening with 24 points and 4 rebounds. Bad luck as Pioneros lost that game 86-95 to the higher-ranked Marinos (#2, 4-1). This loss caused Pioneros to drop to 8th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 2-2 record is not bad and everything may still change. Allen is one of the most experienced players at Pioneros and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was swingman Luis Duarte (190-G/F-1994) of league's top team Gaiteros de Zulia. Duarte showcased his all-around game by recording 11 points, 11 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Gaiteros, leading his team to a 79-75 win against the lower-ranked Spartans (#6, 3-2). Gaiteros started extremely well this year. They recorded 5 victories without losing a single game. Duarte turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Duarte has a great season in Venezuela. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 4.6apg (8th best).
