SPB 2026 - Michael Watkins (ex Hunan) is a newcomer at Spartans

Spartans de Distrito Capital Caracas (SPB) have added 30-year-old American forward Michael Watkins (206cm-115kg-1995, college: Penn State) to their roster. Watkins, who most recently played for Hunan in the Chinese NBL league, averaged 10.8ppg, 9.4rpg, and 1.0bpg in 5 games last season. Prior to that, he played for Al Ittihad Jeddah (SBL) in the Saudi Arabian league, where he put up impressive numbers in 5 games, averaging 14.4ppg, 9.8rpg, 1.6apg, 1.4spg, and 2.2bpg.
He is quite an experienced player. Thanks to Watkins' pro career, he managed to play on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, and of course North America) in eleven different countries. Watkins has played professionally in Colombia, Israel (Hapoel Haifa), Lebanon (Antonine), Mexico (Soles), Philippines (Warriors), Saudi Arabia, Dominican Republic (Metros, Parque Hostos, Indios, Titanes, and Million), NBA G League (Delaware Blue Coats), Venezuela (Piratas), and The Basketball Tournament (HV Hoopers).
His team achieved a spot in the Mexican LNBP Semifinals in 2024. He received a vote for the Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League All-Imports Team in 2025.
Watkins graduated from Penn State University in 2020 and is in his sixth season as a pro player.
