Watkins' double-double lands him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

30-year old American forward Michael Watkins (206-F-1995) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Spartans de Distrito Capital Caracas and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 28.
He had a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Diablos (#10, 6-11) 105-91. Spartans maintains the 3rd position in Venezuelan league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Spartans will need more victories to improve their 13-4 record. Watkins just recently signed at Spartans, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Michael Watkins averages this season 16.1ppg and 10.6rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Gil Atencio (202-PF-1996) of Centauros de Bolivar. He is Panamanian forward in his first season at Centauros. In the last game Atencio recorded an impressive double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds. It was enough for Centauros to edge slightly higher-ranked Piratas (#11, 5-12) by 3 points 85-82. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Centauros keeps 12th position. 14 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Centauros managed to get this year. Atencio is one of the most experienced players at Centauros and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Nahziah Carter (198-G-1999) of league's leader Gaiteros de Zulia. Carter scored 23 points. He was a key player of Gaiteros, leading his team to a 96-83 easy win against the lower-ranked Brillantes (#8, 8-9). Many experts and fans count Gaiteros as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 15 victories and only one lost game. They are currently at the very top of the standings. Carter has a great season in Venezuela. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.4ppg (4th best).
