Hidrocarburos de Caracas Seize a 2-0 Lead in the Superliga Femenina Final- June 8, 2026Hidrocarburos de Caracas have put themselves on the brink of a championship, winning the first two games of the Superliga Profesional Femenina final to take a commanding 2-0 series lead over Costaneras de Puerto Cabello.
The Caracas side set the tone in Game 1, controlling matters at home for a 75-63 win behind a dominant night from Daniela Morillo-Wallen (179-SF-1995, college: Okla City). The forward posted a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds, leading all players with an efficiency rating of 29. She had plenty of help: Jormelys Urbina (170-G-1996) was relentless with 20 points, six rebounds and four steals, while Waleska Perez (180-G-1994, college: Weatherford JC) stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, 14 rebounds and five assists. "This team gives me the confidence and security to play my game," Wallen said afterward. "We've all gelled really well, and that gives me the intensity and the will to fight." Game 2 was tighter, but the outcome was the same. Kervin Bracho's team held off Costaneras 73-68 to double their advantage in the best-of-five series, refusing to relinquish the momentum and moving within a single win of the trophy. The lead is all the more notable given the regular season, when Costaneras had repeatedly gotten the better of Hidrocarburos. Now, with both clubs contesting the final for the first time, it is the Caracas side that holds the upper hand and a chance to close out the title at the next opportunity. Costaneras, meanwhile, must win three of the next three to deny them. |
