Regular Season Round 11: Estudiantes T. - Ameghino 60-78

There was a minor upset when their close opponent Estudiantes T. (5-4) lost to second ranked Ameghino (4-5) in San Miguel de Tucuman 60-78 on Wednesday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Ameghino dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Estudiantes T.'s 20. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Estudiantes T.'s players. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Emiliano Lezcano (187-1) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Point guard Tomas Allende (190-2) accounted for 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Power forward Conrado Echevarria (195-98) came up with 12 points and 9 rebounds and Ignacio Echevarria (195-98) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Estudiantes T. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ameghino keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Estudiantes C. and Salta Basket. Newly promoted Estudiantes T. keeps the second place with four games lost. Ameghino will meet at home Jachal (#4) in the next round. Estudiantes T. will play against Estudiantes O. in Olavarria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
