Regular Season Round 12: GELP - Bahia 85-68

Everything went according to plan in La Plata where first ranked GELP (7-5) beat 4th ranked Bahia (3-9) 85-68 on Friday. The best player for the winners was Tomas Ligorria (195-94) who scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Carlos Gianella (181) chipped in 19 points (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Five GELP players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Brazilian center Gabriel Novaes (208-1) who recorded 20 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Ezequiel Paz (190-1, agency: Interperformances) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. GELP maintains first position with 7-5 record. Bahia lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with nine games lost. GELP will meet league's second-placed Villa Mitre in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bahia will play against the league's second-placed Quilmes MP and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
