Regular Season Round 6: Olimpico - Instituto 84-71
Date: November 21, 2021
There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Olimpico (3-3) beat higher ranked Instituto (4-2) in La Banda 84-71 on Sunday. Forward Santiago Arese (196-87) notched 23 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American guard Elyjah Clark (190-98, college: MSSU) supported him with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds by the former international guard Nicolas Romano (200-87) did not help to save the game for Instituto. International Martin Cuello (193-93) added 8 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olimpico moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Penarol. Loser Instituto dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Olimpico will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Instituto will play against the league's second-placed Boca (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
