Regular Season Round 27: Penarol - Obras 100-77
Date: February 17, 2022
No shocking result in a game in Mar del Plata where first ranked Penarol (18-7) smashed 10th ranked Obras (13-11) 100-77 on Thursday. Penarol made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Penarol outrebounded Obras 39-24 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Penarol especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. It was a great evening for American forward Al Thornton (203-1983, college: FSU, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Tevin Glass (206-1994, college: ETSU, agency: BIG) helped adding 18 points and 13 rebounds. Five Penarol players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Keith Stone (203-1997, college: Miami, FL, agency: Duran International) with 10 points and 9 rebounds and Peruvian point guard Juan Pablo Venegas (183-2000) scored 8 points and 10 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Penarol went down to second position due to points difference. Loser Obras dropped to the ninth place with 11 games lost. Penarol will meet at home Argentino (#19) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Obras will play against Riachuelo LR (#13) and hope to secure a win.
