Regular Season Round 47: GELP - Racing 73-76

A very close game took place in La Plata between Racing and GELP. Eighth ranked Racing (10-7) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked GELP (7-9). Racing managed to escape with a 3-point win 76-73 on Monday evening. It was an exceptional evening for guard Erbel De Pietro (185-1988) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Carlos Baez (-1993) accounted for 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Four Racing players scored in double figures. Racing's coach Diego Dambrosio used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Carlos Gianella (181) came up with 21 points and 5 rebounds and center Franco Barroso (207-1994) added 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks respectively for GELP in the defeat. Racing moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Villa Mitre. GELP lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Del Progreso and Dep Norte. Racing will meet at home higher ranked Pergamino (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GELP will play against Parque Sur (#12) and hope to secure a win.
