Regular Season Round 5: Ferro - Obras 38-65
Date: March 6, 2022
Bottom-ranked Ferro (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 65-38 loss to fifth ranked Obras (3-2) in Olavarria on Sunday evening. They held Ferro to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.0 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Ferro 43-22 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Maribel Barzola (176-1997) stepped up and scored 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Dalma Piri (175-2001) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Obras players scored in double figures. Forward Lucila Sampietro (176-2003) responded with 11 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and guard Martina Rodriguez Bire (168-1999) scored 4 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Obras moved-up to third place, which they share with Quimsa. Ferro lost their fourth game in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Catamarca. Obras' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Buenos Aires to the arena Berazategui.
