The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Gimnasia as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Gimnasia edged 9th ranked Olimpico in Comodoro Rivadavia 75-74. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Olimpico. The best player for the winners was Cuban forward Joaquin Mensia (198-1997, agency: Pro Sports) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. The former international point guard Sebastian Orresta (188-1993) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Gimnasia players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Venezuelan swingman Pedro Chourio (186-1990, agency: Pro Sports) who recorded 21 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Elyjah Clark (190-1998, college: MSSU) added 20 points respectively. Olimpico's coach Leonardo Gutierrez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gimnasia (22-8) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Olimpico at the other side keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Obera. Olimpico will play next round against strong Penarol trying to get back on the winning streak. Gimnasia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
