No shocking result in a game in Santiago del Estero where seventh ranked Quimsa (22-13) smashed 10th ranked Atenas (18-18) 113-56 on Monday. Quimsa dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Atenas' 20. Quimsa forced 21 Atenas turnovers and outrebounded them 42-31 including a 37-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 56.7 percentage. Quimsa looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Atenas' players. It was a great evening for guard Francisco Corradi (187-2003) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals. Lucas Chiapella (-2004) helped adding 21 points and 5 rebounds. Five Quimsa players scored in double figures. Quimsa's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Ecuadorian guard Erick Mecias (184-2003) with 17 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Ignacio Segura (195-2000) scored 9 points and 10 rebounds. Quimsa have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 22-13 record. Loser Atenas keeps the tenth position with 18 games lost. Quimsa will meet San Lorenzo (#17) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Atenas will play against Riachuelo LR (#15) in La Rioja and hope to secure a win.
