Regular Season Round 16: Racing - Pilar 85-58
Date: November 27, 2022
There was no surprise when 9th ranked Pilar (5-7) was outleveled by third ranked Racing (8-2) in Chivilcoy 85-58 on Sunday. Racing outrebounded Pilar 38-24 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by point guard Alejo Barrales (174-1991) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 assists and forward Emilio Stucky (198-1994) supported him with 8 points and 10 rebounds. Four Racing players scored in double figures. Even 9 points and 6 rebounds by Greek-American forward Tommy Demogerontas (203-1997, college: IUP) did not help to save the game for Pilar. Naturalized Paraguayan forward Gabriel Peralta (201-1995) added 10 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Racing maintains third position with 8-2 record having five points less than leader Ameghino. Newly promoted Pilar keeps the ninth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Pico FC. Racing will meet at home league's second-placed Zarate Basket in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pilar will have a break next round.
