No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Platense (9-7) beat 15th ranked La Union (5-12) in Formosa 77-71 on Sunday. Platense well out of reach of La Union shooting 100.0 percent from the field. The winners were led by American power forward DeMarco Owens (203-1996, college: Montevallo) who scored that evening 16 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and point guard Victor Fernandez (180-1999) supported him with 14 points. Owens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Platense players scored in double figures. Even 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) by American guard Thomas Cooper (196-1992, college: Calgary) did not help to save the game for La Union. His fellow American import forward Xavier Hill-Mais (202-1996, college: Oakland) added 13 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) for lost side. Platense moved-up to seventh place. La Union lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 12 games lost. Platense will meet at home higher ranked Instituto (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. La Union will have a break next round.
