Regular Season Round 27: Colon SF - Sarmiento R. 85-83

Seventeenth-ranked Sarmiento R. (2-16) gave a tough game to seventh ranked Colon SF (10-9) in Santa Fe on Saturday. Colon SF managed to secure only two-point victory 85-83. However their fans expected much easier game. Colon SF looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Dwayne Russell (203, college: St.Thomas, FL) who scored 26 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Point guard Joaquin Baeza (182-1986, agency: BIG) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Alejo Traverso (179-1998) who recorded 18 points and 5 assists and guard Marcelo Martinez (187-1996) added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Five Colon SF and four Sarmiento R. players scored in double figures. Sarmiento R.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Colon SF moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Dep Norte. Sarmiento R. lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the seventeenth position with 16 games lost. Colon SF will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sarmiento R. will play against Libertad (#11) in Sunchales and hope to secure a win.
