Very expected game in Mar del Plata where 14th ranked Atenas (11-14) was edged by fifth ranked Penarol (14-7) 91-88 on Tuesday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Penarol made 33-of-36 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Ignacio Bednarek (206-2001) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points. Guard Facundo Tolosa (190-2002) helped adding 20 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). At the losing side point guard Maximiliano Araujo (183-2002) responded with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Matias Stanic (185-2005) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Penarol moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Independ.O. Atenas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Penarol will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Atenas will play against San Lorenzo (#15) and hope to secure a win.
