Regular Season Round 39: Gimnasia - Obera 66-65

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Obera (26-4) in Comodoro Rivadavia on Tuesday night. Visitors were edged by third ranked Gimnasia CR (21-9) 66-65. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Obera. They outrebounded Obera 33-20 including 19 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Cuban swingman Marcos Chacon (194-2003, agency: Pro Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Dominican swingman Angel Reyes (201-2002) helped adding 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Gimnasia CR's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was forward Alejo Azpilicueta (201-2002) with 23 points and guard Francisco Tarnowyk (192-2001) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Gimnasia CR maintains third place with 21-9 record having five points less than leader Obera. Obera at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Gimnasia CR will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Obera will play at home against Obras and is hoping to win this game.
