Very important is a home loss of second ranked Gimnasia (22-9) against fourteenth ranked Riachuelo LR (14-16) on Monday night. Host Gimnasia was defeated by Riachuelo LR in Comodoro Rivadavia 77-67. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Gimnasia. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Mariano Fierro (200-1986) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Diamon Simpson (204-1987, college: St.Mary's, CA) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Riachuelo LR players scored in double figures. American center Gerard DeVaughn (205-1988, college: Stillman) answered with 12 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Tyrone White (201-1990, college: CSUB) added 19 points in the effort for Gimnasia. Riachuelo LR have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with La Union. Gimnasia at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. Riachuelo LR will play against higher ranked Obras (#5) in Buenos Aires in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gimnasia will have a break next round.
