Regular Season Round 14: San Martin - Gimnasia 68-76

Gimnasia CR has finally registered their first victory this season after eight consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Corrientes, where they defeated San Martin (0-9) 76-68. Cuban swingman Marcos Chacon (194-2003) notched 27 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and Uruguayan guard Thomas Araujo (192-2004) supported him with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Even a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds by Mateo Rearte (-2006) did not help to save the game for San Martin. Geronimo Ramallo added 21 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Defending champion (1-8) left bottom position moving up to eighteenth place, which they share with Atenas. It was San Martin's ninth loss in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost. Gimnasia will play against higher ranked Union (#13) in Santa Fe in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. San Martin will play at home against Zarate (#17) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
