The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeatedEstudiantes T. (0-1) in San Miguel de Tucuman on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by Comunicaciones (1-0) 85-73 . It was a key game for the top position in the league. Comunicaciones outrebounded Estudiantes T. 45-30 including 35 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Santiago Arese (196-1987) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 8 rebounds and Chilean Fabian Martinez (194-2000) who added 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Comunicaciones' coach Eduardo Japez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Darry Moore (201-2001, college: ETBU) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Dominican swingman Angel Reyes (201-2002) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Five Comunicaciones and four Estudiantes T. players scored in double figures. Comunicaciones keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 6 other teams. Newly promoted Estudiantes T. still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with Jujuy and El Talar. Comunicaciones is looking forward to face Jujuy (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Estudiantes T. will have a break next round.
