Regular Season Round 29: Quimsa - Gimnasia 73-75

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Santiago del Estero where 16th ranked Quimsa (5-14) was edged by seventeenth ranked Gimnasia CR (4-16) 75-73 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was guard Jose Copesky (184-2006) who scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Naturalized Italian Santino Santacroce chipped in 22 points and 5 steals. Four Gimnasia CR players scored in double figures. Guard Matias Pikaluk (188-2006) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and forward Patricio Cogliati (203-2006) added 16 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Despite that victory Gimnasia went down to eighteenth position due to points difference, which they share with Zarate. Quimsa lost their tenth game in a row. They keep the sixteenth place with 14 games lost. Gimnasia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Quimsa will play against Obera (#5) and hope to secure a win.
