Regular Season Round 27: Olimpico - Union SF 87-95

No shocking result in a game when fifth rankedUnion (14-13) beat 9th ranked Olimpico (13-13) in La Banda 95-87 on Friday. Union made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized Italian point guard Gaston Whelan (187-1994) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Center Jose Alessio (203-1987) accounted for 18 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winning side. Union SF's coach Maximiliano Seigorman allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Dischon Thomas (206-2000, college: Montana) came up with 25 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Jose Defelippo (186-1997) added 17 points respectively for Olimpico in the defeat. Five Union and four Olimpico players scored in double figures. Union maintains fifth place with 14-13 record, which they share with Regatas. Loser Olimpico dropped to the eleventh position with 13 games lost.
