There was no surprise when 19th rankedZarate (7-17) was crushed at home by eleventh ranked Gimnasia (14-12) 109-86 on Sunday. Gimnasia shot 63.6 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 57.7 percentage. American Andre Nation (196-1993, college: JMU) stepped up and scored 28 points for the winners and his fellow American import guard Robert Whitfield (190-1997, college: UMKC) chipped in 23 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Edgar Merchant (200-2002) responded with 24 points and point guard Lautaro Fraga (185-1992) scored 22 points. Five Gimnasia and four Zarate players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Gimnasia . They moved-up to ninth place. Zarate lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the nineteenth position with 17 games lost.
