Western Ballaz recorded a loss in Belize City. Visitors were defeated by Defenders 84-69. Defenders forced 27 Western Ballaz turnovers and outrebounded them 53-42 including 18 on the offensive glass. American swingman Nigel Jones (201-1990, college: Talladega) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 19 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). The former international guard Devin Daly (195-1994, college: LSSU) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Defenders players scored in double figures. Defenders' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Richard Smith III (206-1992, college: California, PA) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Mark Gordon (196, college: Keiser) added 18 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Western Ballaz.
