The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Pichincha as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Pichincha smashed bottom-ranked Amistad at home 91-58. They outrebounded Amistad 47-29 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Robert Colon (187-99, college: WSSU) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward TJ Robinson (203-89, college: LBSU) who added 16 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Pichincha players scored in double figures. At the losing side Cuban forward Freddy Marin (202-92) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Argentinian power forward Nicolas Gimenez (203-94) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Amistad at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost.
